ORPHANAGES
DESCRIPTION:
In Cameroon, over 200,000 children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS and the maternal mortality rate is 750 per 100,000 live births.
FOCUS
ICA is committed to assisting orphanages and children in need, village by village. Work continues with 3 orphanages (St Valentines, Grace, and HOTPEC) located in Buea and the Lebialem Valley. ICA is forming a committee to address the particular needs of the inordinate amount of orphans in these regions who have no institutionalized or government care.
UPDATE:
Sewing Machines have been purchased for the Buea orphanages to teach the children a skill. ICA has completed construction of indoor kitchens at two orphanages (prior to this all meals were cooked on an open fire outdoors).
