ORPHANAGES
DESCRIPTION:
In Cameroon, over 200,000 children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS and the maternal mortality rate is 750 per 100,000 live births.
FOCUS
ICA is committed to assisting orphanages and children in need, village by village. ICA is working with 3 orphanages (St Valentines, Grace, and HOTPEC) located in Buea on initiatives such as kitchen construction and supplies.
UPDATE:
Sewing Machines are required to teach the children a skill. An indoor kitchen at one orphanage has been completed (prior to this all meals were cooked on an open fire outdoors) and construction is underway at another orphanage for their kitchen.
