WOMEN'S JEWELRY PROJECT
DESCRIPTION:
The Ottawa Marathon has purchased unique medals made from agejiga
seeds, coconut shell and bamboo shoots. These 3,000 medals are
hand-crafted by the women of the Lebialem Valley.
FOCUS:
ICA Canada and the Ottawa Marathon are working together to help women and children in the Cameroon. Runners who complete the Ottawa Marathon Family 2K on Saturday, May 29th will receive a medal made by the women in the Lebialem Valley.
UPDATE:
This initiative empowers the women financially, and helps them to
provide education, medical care, clothing and other daily necessities of life for their families.
